Biography
Seeing a baby take its first breath and having the mother see her baby for the first time is a moment when time stops. I am so blessed to be able to witness this magical event.
It is very important to me to get to know my clients and really get to know their wants and desires for their pregnancy and birth. This is their pregnancy and birth, not mine or anyone else’s.
What makes Colorado home to you?
Colorado is home to me because I feel at home in the mountains and in the laid back communities in the Denver area. I feel at peace in the wilderness surrounded by forest and alpine lakes. I can relate and I find deep friendships in other people that make Colorado their home.
What are your passions outside of work?
My passion outside of work is travel to foreign lands, hike with my puppy in the woods and spending time with my friends making more memories.
Why did you become an Midwife?
I became a midwife for many reasons. It was a trip to Africa working in a small hospital in a rural community that lit the fire in me to return back to school to fulfill my dream to become a midwife. I love the idea that I get to educate, guide and be present during one of most important times in a couple’s life. I want to make sure that that day the mother is surrounded by love, positive energy and that she feels empowered to bring her sweet baby into the world. Seeing a baby take its first breath and having the mother see her baby for the first time is a moment when time stops. I am so blessed to be able to witness this magical event.
What in your career are you most proud?
I am most proud of my career after a long day of helping a mother labor and work very hard to bring her baby earth side and I was able to help her have the type of experience that she envisioned for herself. I take pride in making that day the mother’s and partner’s day of birth. It isn’t about anyone else but them.
What is the most important part of your job?
The most important part of my job is to monitor but also educate parents on a healthy pregnancy and birth. Birth isn’t just the day that the baby is born, it starts with conception and continues throughout their life. I want to give them the knowledge they need in order to succeed in to their new role as parents. It is also important to me to get to know my clients and really get to know their wants and desires for their pregnancy and birth. This is their pregnancy and birth, not mine or anyone else’s.
